Families and students of Sag Harbor Elementary and Pierson Middle and High School who speak multiple languages were welcomed to Pierson for an overview of the English Language Learners Program. Several families attended to hear from the district’s principals, athletic director, and English as a New Language teachers of various grades.

Gathered in the auditorium, a presentation greeted the families to introduce the steps of the English language learners’ program for all ages. Families were then invited to hear more about the day-to-day of the elementary, middle, and high schools in designated classrooms. School communication and after-school programs, including sports, were also highlighted topics. With the help of on-site Spanish translators and additional translations in Japanese, Turkish, and Croatian made available through Google Translate, faculty and staff could introduce the program, and give an overview of the school year and themselves to offer as much support as possible.
