The Great Read-In Day returns to Pierson Middle School

Returning this year for the first time since 2019, Pierson Middle School students celebrated the Great Read-In Day. The Great Read-In Day happens in the beginning of March and is connected to Read Across America, an initiative of the National Education Association.

“[The Great Read-In day] celebrates diverse readers, authors and books,” said Pierson Middle School Assistant Principal, Stacy Van Duzer. “We are hoping to incorporate it back into one of our yearly traditions.”

As part of the eventful day, the students wore pajamas for their reading adventures. While students were encouraged to bring their own independent book, a book fair was set up as well as games for students to win raffle tickets and prizes such as books, tote bags, and more. Snacks were available and no Chromebooks were encouraged for a day of diving into an impactful book on past and present diversity and inclusion literature pieces.
