Sag Harbor pre-k students learn from community neighbors

Once a month, Sag Harbor Learning Center pre-kindergartners are treated to a visit from the librarian at the Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor. Ginta Genender, the children’s librarian at Jermain Memorial Library, shares books from their children’s section and reads the stories aloud for group engagement and learning opportunities.

During the March visit, the pre-k students gathered around Genender as she read Bethanie Deeney Murguia’s book “We Disagree,” a picture book about acceptance and friendship. While reading the book, Genender took time to have the students share their own likes and dislikes and decide whether any of their classmates agreed or not. In turn, students had the opportunity to learn more about their classmates.

With each month focusing on a different theme, the Sag Harbor pre-k students continue to learn through story with their community neighbors.
