Troy Remkus has been named the Southampton Colony Chapter of the National Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award recipient from Pierson for 2021.
A current senior, Remkus has built his High School career through participation in the National Honor Society, Cross Country and Basketball teams, Quiz Bowl Club, Model UN, and Environmental Systems and Society Club to name a few. Remkus was chosen for this award because he possesses the qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism to an outstanding degree.
Outside of high school activities, Remkus also is a Troop 455 Eagle Scout and is active in volunteer work. Remkus has volunteered with the Sag Harbor Food Pantry and Fire Department, Lions’ Club, Wounded Warrior Project, Katy’s Courage, and much more.
“I will always be involved in community service because I find helping others to be rewarding. I have never regretted volunteering my time and wish more people understood how great it can make you feel. I also intend to help my local boy scout troop by supervising activities and teaching the younger scouts,” said Remkus.
Remkus was recognized at a ceremony on Nov. 16, at the Southampton Historical Museum by local Regent, Gerri MacWhinnie and a visiting regional director.
