Lantern

The vibrant colors that greet us every fall have sparked hands-on learning opportunities for Sag Harbor Elementary’s Pre-Kindergarten students. From outdoor activities to indoor fun, the students are learning through all the senses.

Pre-Kindergarten teacher, Kara Romeo, encouraged her students to get in the spirit with outdoor reading time. Romeo’s students also learned to recognize different shapes through fall bingo and embraced their creativity through the sensory exploration of finger painting.

Michael D'Angelo, a pre-kindergarten class parent, brought a pumpkin into the classroom to continue the adopted Halloween tradition of carving Jack-O-Lanterns. D’Angelo and the classroom teacher, Mindy Reyer, helped the students hollow out the pumpkin and explained the various textures found on both the inside and outside of the pumpkin. D’Angelo took over to carve a bat into the pumpkin and completed the experience by placing a light source inside to make it glow.
