The Class of 2019 had a special visit this week from Pierson alumni. Cameron Burton '16, Emma McMahon '16, Santiago Saldivar '17, and Kerry Vila '16, were on hand to talk about life after high school including employment, college, and relationships. The alumni gave advice on "things you didn't know but you thought you knew" and tips on getting involved with your community wherever you go after high school. From changing a college major and meeting with an advisor to navigating new friendships, the alumni gave helpful information and answered questions from the seniors. Ms. McMahon, who has just completed her junior year at SUNY Geneseo talked about not being afraid to do things on your own and try new things. Mr. Saldivar, an accounting major at SUNY Suffolk County Community College shared about his involvement with student government on campus and connecting with student resources such as the career center through which he has obtained a summer internship. Mr. Burton talked about not being afraid to switch majors like he did at SUNY Oneonta where he is about to start his senior year as a Biology major. Ms. Vila, a senior at Northwestern University, shared advice on picking classes that suit you. It was a great morning connecting with the alumni and the Class of 2019 was thankful for the visit as they look forward to their graduation on June 29th.
